LET’S GO TO KREO CAVE AND JATIBARANG RESERVOIR

INTERACT WITH MONKEYS IN KREO CAVE

How does it feel to interact with long0tailed monkeys? Just come to Kreo Cave where you can find a hundred monkeys there. The monkeys are Macaca fascicularis or long-tailed monkeys which become a legend of the name Kreo Cave.

It was about Sunan Kalijaga who needed teak wood to build Demak Great Mosque. The teak wood was stuck on a cliff. Then, some red, yellow, white, and black monkeys came to help Sunan Kalijaga to take the wood.

Finish helping, those monkeys wanted to join the people of Sunan Kalijaga to go to Demak, but they were ordered to guard the area. Eventually, this area was known as Kreo Cave which means monkey’s cave.

From the parking area, the visitors can walk through the stairs and the red bridge. This bridge is nice for a photo shoot with a wide reservoir as its background. Before the building of Jatibarang Reservoir, the hill where the monkeys live was in one area that now looks like a small island after the existence of the reservoir.

In the cave area, two caves are usually used as a shelter for the monkeys when it rains. If you walk into the cave, it will be narrower you should squat down to reach the end of the cave where there is a monkey statue there. The myth said that the end of the cave can take you to Lawang Sewu. 

The unpleasant fetid smell plus the bat droppings are felt when you enter the cave. Continue your journey, you will climb up to the hill of sloping land with many monkeys around you. The visitors should be careful that the monkeys may become aggressive and take your belongings.

FUN WATER ATTRACTION IN JATIBARANG RESERVOIR

Jatibarang reservoir is built as a flood control dam in Semarang City as well as a micro-hydropower plant. In addition, this development is also carried out to support the conservation function in watersheds.

Officially operating in 2015, now Jatibarang Reservoir becomes a must-visit tourist attraction when you are in Semarang. The visitors can do many activities such as fishing, going around by speedboat, river tubbing in Kandri Tourism Village, and riding a boat.

The best time to visit Jatibarang Reservoir is in the morning (sunrise) and afternoon (sunset). Surely you will see a beautiful panorama. Moreover, there is also a tower to see the scenery from height.
