The Festive Of The WR Soepratman Festival 2023

The highlight of the WR Soepratman Festival 2023, "Tribute to WR Soepratman" was held on Sunday (19/3) evening at the Purworejo Square Amphitheater. The event began by singing together the song "Indonesia Raya", Mars, and Hymn Purworejo by Ganesa Voice Feat Mentari Music as the guests and the people of Purworejo. Furthermore, Stephanus Aan Isa, the Head of the Department of the Youth, Sport, and Tourism of Purworejo Regency awarded the competition prize.

The event took place lively with music and songs by WR Soepratman sung by Ganesha Voice Feat Mentari Music (Selera Masa). They also sang other songs such as Gebyar-Gebyar (Gombloh), Tresno Purworejo, and Laskar Pelangi (Nidji). At the end of the event, the audience was entertained by a local band, Beda Band Purworejo.

The WR Soepratman Festival is an annual event to commemorate WR Soepratman as a hero who is also a native of the Purworejo area. History records that WR Soepratman was born on Thursday Wage, March 19, 1903, in Somongari Village, Kec. Kaligesing. He grew up in a family of musicians, so he is good at playing musical instruments.

At that time, WR Soerpratman was interested in getting involved and wanted to create a national anthem. In 1924 the anthem Indonesia Raya was born. Four years later, at the Second Youth Pledge Congress in October 1928, his song was played instrumentally using the violin for the first time.

WR Soepratman's other works are Dari Barat Sampai ke Timur, Bendera Kita, Bangunlah Hai Kawan, Ibu Kita Kartini, Indonesia Hai Ibuku, and Matahari Terbit. He passed away on August 17, 1938, 7 years before the proclamation of Indonesian Independence. (Admin)
