Punthuk Setumbu is a hill about 400 meters above sea level which is located in the Menoreh Mountains. This place used to be a resident's field. But after a photographer captures the pictures of the Borobudur sunrise from this place, people come to visit this place to see the sunrise. Tourists who wants to witness the beauty of Borobudur at dawn is advised to arrive at this place before 05.00 WIB.
From the parking lot, tourists have to trekking for about 15 minutes to reach the summit with a route in the form of a macadam and dirt road. For those who are not strong trekking to the peak, not far from the parking lot there is a gazebo where tourists can already watch Borobudur from a distance. The peak of Punthuk Setumbu is in the form of a large courtyard surrounded by a guardrail. In this place there are houses on stilts, gazebo, and wooden chairs that can be used to sit waiting for the sun to rise. Although the trekking trip in the morning is a bit tiring, it will pay off when watching the sweeping borobudur fog that slowly rises up and the sun that appears from behind the mountain shyly.
