Grebeg Gethuk
Grebeg Gethuk is an annual celebration of Magelang City’s anniversary, featuring a parade of gunungan gethuk (a cone-shaped structure decorated with colorful sweet cassava snacks) and palawija (agricultural produce) from 17 villages as a symbol of gratitude. The event is enlivened by the scramble for the gunungan, the “Babad Mahardika” dance drama, and various cultural performances.
