BATIK BATANG

Although not as popular as its neighboring areas, Batang also produces quality batik with attractive motifs and colors. One of the typical Batang batik is Batik Rifaiyah. Rifaiyah batik is an inheritance from the ancestors of the descendants of Sheikh KH. Ahmad Rifai from Kali Pucang Wetan Village, Batang District. Based on history, this batik is used as a medium to spread the religion of Islam. Before starting, the batik makers perform the Duha prayer first. During batik, the craftsmen recite Arabic and Javanese poetry. Rifaiyah Batik has experienced acculturation with other regions, such as Lasem (dominantly Merha), Solo City (dominantly Sogan), and the specialty of Batik Rifaiyah itself, namely indigo blue.
