TENUN LURIK

Lurik weaving in Indonesia has existed since the Majapahit era, nearly parallel to the history of the founding of this nation. As evidence, there is a depiction of lurik in the relief of Borobudur Temple, where we can see someone weaving with a backstrap loom. Furthermore, the Raja Erlangga Inscription from East Java in 1033 also mentions tuluh watu fabric as one of the classic motifs in lurik weaving.
