AMBARAWA RAILWAY MUSEUM

It is located on the centre of Ambarawa city, near the main road of Semarang-Jogja, about 20 kilometres from Ungaran city. It is the only one museum which exhibits old fashioned train technology and an inheritance from Dutch colonial time. The museum offers a recreation package which can take the visitors around the village enjoying the view of mountain on a steam train. The building was firstly built based on King Willem I's instruction to ease the army transportation system. In 1976, Sopeardjo Rustam, the governor of Central java, reoperates the station as a museum. Though it is knows as an ancient building, the details of the building are still well-treated. This brings the visitors to the era of victory of Nederlandsch-Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij.
