BEDUG PENDOWO

Pendowo drum is located inside the grand mosque in Kauman Purworejo, the west side of Purworejo town square. Drum Pendowo was made during the reign of the regent Purworejo Raden Cokronegoro at + 1762 Java / 1834 AD made from teak wood from the Pendowo, Bragolan village, Purwodadi district. It has 292 cm length, 601 cm around the front, 564 cm around the rear, 194 cm diameter of the front section, 180 cm diameter of rear section. The number of front spikes are 120 pieces and the number of nails rear are 98 pieces. The part of the drum is made of buffalo leather. As a cultural heritage that should be preserved and cared for usefulness, the drum is only rung on every Friday and major holidays.
