CANDRADIMUKA CRATER

Have you ever heard about the story of a crater that is used to bathe Gatotkaca in a series of Javanese puppets? Yes, it is Candradimuka Crater. Do you know, Sobat Wisata? That the crater is located precisely in Pekasiran Tourism Village, Batur District, Banjarnegara Regency. 

It is said that this crater is a site where Gatotkaca's umbilical cord was cut when he was a year old because it is hard to cut. After experiencing many kinds of difficulties and failures, finally, Arjuna got a vision of how to cut his nephew's umbilical cord. It is by drowning Gatotkaca in Candradimuka Crater. Having drown in the crater, Gatotkaca became magical and was one of the heroes among the puppet characters that is exalted up to now.

Different from other craters in Dieng that are from volcanoes, Candradimuka was formed because of land cracking and it produces strong but safe sulfur gas. Around the crater, there is a natural water spring that can give a youthful effect.
