Hardjonegaran Residence

The Hardjonegaran Residence is the home of Panembahan Hardjonegara, also known as Go Tik Swan, which is now recognized as a cultural heritage site. Today, this residence of the prominent figure close to President Sukarno functions as a batik art production house and also serves as a gallery displaying cultural artifacts collected by Panembahan Hardjonegara.

Panembahan Hardjonegara, or Go Tik Swan, played a significant role in the cultural development of Solo and the evolution of batik in Indonesia. He successfully created a unique style of Indonesian batik that combined Solo-Jogja techniques from Batik Sogan and Coastal Batik, following a request from President Sukarno.

Not only was he a batik master, but he was also an expert in Javanese dance, a keris (traditional dagger) specialist, and a passionate collector of statues and antique objects, all of which are now carefully displayed within the Hardjonegaran complex.

The Hardjonegaran Residence is open to anyone interested in learning about batik and heritage artifacts. KRA Hardjosoewarno and his wife, Mrs. Supiyah, warmly welcome visitors, provided prior appointments have been made.

Those wishing to visit Hardjonegaran Residence can make a reservation via WhatsApp at 0878 3605 0077 (KRRA H. Hardjosuwarno).
