THE GREAT MOSQUE OF REMBANG
The Great Mosque of Rembang is located in an area that is integrated with the official residence of the Regent (now the RA Kartini Museum), the Rembang city square, and the Rembang city terminal. This mosque is a cultural challenge that was built in 1814 AD by Adipati Condrodiningrat and has undergone 6 restorations, but the main building is still preserved. Behind this mosque are the tombs of the Dukes of Rembang including the tomb of the Duke of Sedolaut (1886). Like the prototypes of ancient mosques in Indonesia, the mosque area has always been a burial complex. Behind the mosque (west side) there is a cupola building modeled on European architecture which is quite magnificent, with a height of about 1 (one) m, this cupola building is octagonal centered on the five tombs in it.
