BARONG DEMAK ART PERFORMANCE

Reporting from warisanbudaya.kemdikbud.go.id, one of the traditional art performances in Demak Regency, Central Java that still exists today is the Barong. Barong is a traditional art performance that has been passed down from generation to generation and has even become a very popular art in Gebang Village, Bonang District in particular and Demak Regency in general. Barong Demak tells the story of the priests when they opened the Glagah Wangi forest who encountered resistance from the forest's demons, but in the end, the demon was defeated and wanted to be invited to unite to make the forest the forerunner of the Demak Bintoro Kingdom. Meanwhile, in terms of the clothing worn by the Barong players, it features typical coastal Batik elements.
