BUKA LUWUR

Buka Luwur is a ceremony that changes the curtain cloth of the prophet’s grave that held annually. The main event happens when the distribution of “nasi selamatan” or the blessed rice and the second-hand curtain cloth. People believe that all of them are blessed and can give the people luck. The date of Buka Luwur are below (in Javanese calendar): Buka Luwur of Sunan Kudus every 10 Suro and Buka Luwur of Sunan Muria every 16 Suro.
