HAUL OF AL-HADDAD

The figure of Habib Muhammad bin Thohir Al Haddadis is a great scholar who carried out the symbols of Islam and preached in Yemen, India, Pakistan, and countries in the Middle East. He was born in the city of Qidun-Yemen in 1838 AD. He visited his two sons who had preached in Indonesia. Arriving in Indonesia, precisely in Surabaya, he met his two sons and continued with preaching in other areas, one of which was in Tegal. In Tegal this is his final resting place.

In 1316 H (1885 AD), when he was 43 years old, he died after ill and was buried in a cemetery known as the Al Haddad Tomb on Salak Street, Tegal City. Haul (death commemoration) is held every 15th of Sha'ban (Javanese Calendar) because it coincides with the night of Nisfu Sha'ban. This Haul is always crowded and visited by residents both from regions in Indonesia and from abroad. In this haul, special food is also served, namely Nasi Kebuli for residents who attend the commemoration.
