JALUNGMAS DANCE

Jalungmas is an acronym for Jaipong Calung Banyumas. This dance was popularized in 1993. At that time, the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security, Soesilo Soedarman, a native of Cilacap, asked the Education Office to create a Cilacap-style dance to be performed at the Senayan Convention Hall, Jakarta, at the Jabodetabek Serulingmas Association event. This jalungmas dance focuses on dance moves that adopt the jaipong dance style and traditional Banyumas style music accompanied by the Banyumas Calung Gamelan.
