10 Highlights Events In Jawa Tengah

The Department of Youth, Sports, and Tourism of Jawa Tengah has launched the E-Book "Jawa Tengah Calendar of Events 2023". Around 245 events to the end of 2023 have been composed. Here are our 10 highlight events. Check the information below!

DIENG CULTURE FESTIVAL | August 25-27, 2023 | Arjuna Temple Complex – Banjarnegara Regency

Natural beauty with the unique culture and traditions of the Dieng Plateau, the Dieng Culture Festival presents Jazz performances Above the Clouds amidst cold temperatures, flying lanterns, fireworks, MSME exhibitions, various traditional arts, and the ritual of shaving the dreadlocks of Dieng's dreadlocks.

INDONESIAN UMBRELLA FESTIVAL | September 8-10, 2023 | Mangkunegaran – Surakarta City

The Indonesian Umbrella Festival shows umbrella creations from Indonesia and abroad. Not only enjoying the beauty of thousands of umbrella creations, but also watching exhibitions, art performances, and shopping at the Creative Market, craft, and culinary goods.

SEMARANG OLD TOWN FESTIVAL | September 7-17, 2023 | Semarang Old Town - Semarang City

The Old Town Festival is an annual event since 2012 with the theme Ancient, Now, Later. Visitors can enjoy the nostalgia of Sentiling Market with legendary culinary exhibitions. Furthermore, this festival is enlivened with music entertainment, fashion shows, clitic exhibitions, etc.

SOLO INTERNATIONAL PERFORMING ARTS (SIPA) | August 31– September 2, 2023, | Vastenburg Fort – Surakarta City

Solo International Performing Arts or SIPA is a masterpiece of performing arts including music, dance, drama, etc. This spectacular event is attended by local and international artists. SIPA has been held since 2013.

SOLO KERONCONG FESTIVAL | July 22-23, 2023 | Pamedan Mangkunegaran – Surakarta City
The city of Solo is known for keroncong songs by local poets. The Solo Keroncong Festival has been present since 2009, further strengthening the City of Solo as the City of Keroncong. In 2023, SKF has the theme "Pure Keroncong Always in the Heart". Wait for the performance of keroncong musicians from local and outside the country.

CHENG HO FESTIVAL | August 19-20 2023 | Sam Poo Kong Temple – Semarang City
Cheng Ho's Festival commemorates the arrival of Admiral Cheng Ho to Semarang 618 years ago. The event started with a carnival bringing the statue of the God from the Tay Kak Sie Temple to the Sam Poo Kong Temple. This festival is also enlivened by traditional art performances, a collaboration of Chinese and Javanese cultures.

DUGDERAN | March 17, 2023 | Semarang City
Dugderan is a tradition of Ramadan in the city of Semarang since 1881. The term Dugderan comes from the sound of the drum and the thump of fireworks. Currently, Dugderan is in the form of a carnival enlivened by cultural arts performances.

Solo Menari | April 29, 2023 | Surakarta City Hall – Surakarta City
Solo Menari 2023 is held on World Dance Day since 2009. This event features dance performances by local and international choreographers.

JAVA BALLOON ATTRACTION | August 26-27, 2023 | Kalianget Recreation Park – Wonosobo Regency
It is the tradition of huge traditional colorful hot air balloons in some motifs. This event is also enlivened by cultural arts performances, an Umkm bazaar, and cultural and creative-based competitions.

MORO BOROBUDUR | July 16-17, 2023 | Borobudur Temple Lumbini Park – Magelang Regency

Moro Borobudur is a festival of contemporary musical arts, Javanese, and Indonesian pop music since 2020. Moro Borobudur means 'Come to Borobudur' and invites tourists to enjoy the arts and traditions around Borobudur with enchanting musical entertainment.
