Brackish Forest Tourism On The Edge Of Cilacap

Mangroves are usually planted at the river and shore’s edge to prevent abrasion. Besides, it can function as a tourist attraction too. We can find this mangrove tourism in Brackish Forest, Cilacap.


This is located in Tritih Kulon Village, Cilacap Utara District, it is only 4 km away from downtown Cilacap. This place is relatively easy to access as it is not too far from the main road. The visitors just need to follow the direction which is already written clearly.


This tourism place is precisely located at the end of a residential area, next to the ricefields, and borders with Segara Anakan. The area is about 10 hectares and it is covered with 15.000 types of trees such as bakau bandul, tancang, bakau kacangan, jeruju, waru, and ketapang. 


Not only a variety of flora but also various types of fauna can be found here. You will see some kinds of fish like gelodok fish, uca fish, tanggal fish, and snapping shrimp. There are also monkeys kept in cages and many types of birds. In addition, fishing ponds and crab cultivation are also being built here. 


With 12.500 IDR, you can enjoy looking around the brackish forest with the rides and several spots for selfies. Right in front of the entrance, there is a bamboo bridge where the visitors can walk on through the dense mangrove forest.


There is a path down to the mangrove forest decorated with several ornaments to beautify the spot. Taking this path is relatively easier for the visitors rather than taking it another way. Moreover, along this path, there are some food stalls and benches that can be used to take a rest and enjoy the view.


The end of this path will bring you to the edge of Segara Anakan. This is the most interesting part for the visitors of Brackish Forest. Because you will see a dock named “Dermaga Cinta” and a bridge, “Gantar Sewu”.


To enjoy getting around Segara Anakan, you can rent a boat there. In the afternoon, you can enjoy the dusk and sunset on the bridge. Don’t worry if you feel tired after walking around, because this 300-meters-long bridge has some small huts in every corner for taking a rest, taking selfies, or enjoying the breeze over the edge of Segara Anakan. 


Other than that, here you can camp in the camping ground area, or go fishing in Segara Anakan. This place is a good choice for having a vacation with family and also hanging out with friends while enjoying the beautiful dusk.
