Curug Jlarang : Waterfall Tour In The Middle Of Pekalongan's Ubud Panorama

Tourism in the District of Lebak Barang Pekalongan is not as well-known as tourism in other districts in Pekalongan Regency. Even so, there are several iconic waterfalls from Lebak Barang, such as Curug Cinde which was already famous around 2005's.

The prestige of tourism in the Lebak Barang sub-district rose again when the official opening of Curug Jlarang was around 2017. The journey to Jlarang is indeed quite far. It takes about an hour if taken from the Kajen Square. Access to the waterfall in Sidomulyo Village is quite good, although there are some damaged roads. Even so, it can still be passed even though it is a bit disturbing comfort.

However, the panorama along the way can refresh the eyes after passing through the damaged road access. The view of rice fields and forests is one of the special things. In addition, the view of the countryside under the ravine is one of the interesting spots. But don't let this beautiful view distract you from driving. If you want to take a closer look, you are welcome to pull over while enjoying this view.

After arriving at the management complex, we will be charged around IDR 4 thousand per person. Here visitors can also rent equipment such as buoys or tires. The rental fee is quite affordable, only by spending Rp. 5 thousand.

It still takes about 15 minutes to get to Curug Jlrang. Along this trip, you will be presented with views of the typical rice fields of Ubud Bali. Especially when the harvest season approaches, the yellowing of the rice paddies adds to the color gradation of the scenery that is getting slicker. The panorama of the valleys and mountains around Lebak Barang adds to the trinkets of this god painting. Don't forget to capture your beautiful moments here.

Although not too high, Curug Jlarang exudes its distinctive beauty. Moreover, it has a pool with a depth of about 10 meters. No doubt this depth makes the water around the waterfall bluish green.

Not only one waterfall, but there are also several waterfalls around this area. In total there are about two additional waterfalls beside the core waterfall. Although the other is quite far down the river.

The atmosphere and the water is so refreshing that it can hypnotize visitors to feel at home for long here, especially for those who are love to swim. In addition, examiners can also do body rafting with a buoy, or can also do river tubing with rented tires. Especially if the condition of the waterfall is not too crowded with visitors, being here feels like visiting a privately owned waterfall. But don't forget to continue to be introspective, especially if you can't swim.

Representatives of the management of Curug Jlarag the chairman from Sidomulyo, Udin and Wahid explained that Curug Jlarang itself was once known as a hiding place for natives during the Dutch colonial period. If you look behind the waterfall there is a cave, that's where the natives hide from the pursuit of the Company.

"If you look closely at the waterfall, behind the waterfall there is a kind of cave. Well, when the elders said it was a place for residents to hide when they were being chased by the invaders," he explained.

Not only waterfalls but the downstream flow of the Menep River can also be used as a spot for swim and selfies. Moreover, it is also equipped with a gazebo to just rest while enjoying the surrounding scenery. The river's flow is also used for river-tubing.

For short-distance river tubing of fewer than 200 meters, the price is set at IDR 15 thousand. Meanwhile, for long distances, it is set at IDR 35,000 per person.

If it's busy the number of visitors can reach hundreds of people on weekends. However, since the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of visitors has not been too stable.

"Before Corona, there were hundreds of visitors a day on weekends. It's just that because this is still a pandemic, it's still a bit sluggish. Around 25-30 people. On weekends maybe 50 more. Hopefully, in the future, it can get better and people are more interested in it," he hoped. (Novia)
