Step On Sejati Peak Of Mount Sumbing Via Butuh Village Magelang

Mount Sumbing is the second-highest mountain in Jawa Tengah after Mount Slamet. With these predicates, no wonder that Mount Sumbing is the first choice of climbers who travel to Jawa Tengah. The 3,371-masl mountain offers the charm of natural beauty. The cloud with another mountain peak view becomes a treat for every climber of Mount Sumbing.

Administratively, Mount Sumbing is in three districts: Magelang, Temanggung, and Wonosobo. Therefore, the 'entrance' can go through these three regencies. Mount Sumbing has five climbing paths. The most famous is via Garung Village, Wonosobo. However, if you want to enjoy a quiet and peaceful path, you can choose via Butuh Hamlet, Temanggung Village, Kaliangik District, Magelang.

The path via Butuh Village is claimed to be the fastest one. In addition, climbers can step on the Sejati Peak of Mount Sumbing. The landscape offered to start from the base camp is so wonderful.

Since in the basecamp, the captivating view of Butuh Hamlet will welcome the climbers. For your information, Butuh Hamlet is the highest hamlet on the slope of Mount Sumbing. Here, the houses lined up exactly on the slopes of Mount Sumbing. By netizens, Butuh Hamlet is often referred to as Nepal van Java because this village is similar to Namche Bazaar, a village in Nepal that is the starting point of Everest's climbing. Behind its beauty, climbing Mount Sumbing via Butuh Hamlet has a path that inquires a good condition and preparation physically and mentally plus the great supplies.

Climbing via Butuh Hamlet has four posts. The first track from the base camp to Post 1 was the stone lane arranged and side along with the fields owned by residents. The distance from the base camp to Post 1 is 1.6 km with a height of about 200 meters. On this path, there is a PHP incline. Why is it called PHP? Because after the first incline, there are still other inclines waiting until they arrive at Post 1. It takes 1.5 hours to finish this path.

The distance from Post 1 to Post 2 is 1.3 km away with an elevation of about 200 meters. Path to Post 2 is dominated by rock stairs and uphill lanes in the form of roots of trees. On this route, the climbers began to enter the pine forest area. After Post 2, the journey continues towards Post 3 which is about 1.6 km with an elevation of about 200 meters. Different from the previous track, the path to Post 3 is more sloppy and has a 'bonus.' The 'bonus' offered is the amount of river flow. The existence of the river is also a source of water for climbers because it is still very natural and clean. However, climbers must be careful because the path to Post 3 is side by side with the ravine and so narrow. In addition, climbers must also be vigilant when crossing the river. The flow of rivers that are sometimes heavy, especially in the rainy season, can block rocks that become footing. Arriving at Post 3, climbers can set up a tent because there is a camp area that can accommodate up to dozens of tents and springs. If you still have the remaining energy, you can continue the trip to Post 4 as far as 1.5 km.

The trip from Post 3 to Post 4 is dominated by a fairly steep incline. Climbers will be taken to a hilly path. Once one hill is passed, there is still a hill again until unconsciously you reach Post 4. Post 4 which is at an altitude of 2,983 masl marked with the only tree. Post 4 also became the last area for climbers to set a tent because the land was quite extensive and had a view of the expanse of clouds. From Post 4, the climbers are just 'one more step' towards the peak of Mount Sumbing. The distance is around 1.2 km with an elevation of about 388 meters.

The path to the top of Mount Sumbing is in the form of land tracks mixed with sand. Different from the previous track, the path is perpendicular to the top. On this route, both the physical and mental of climbers will be truly tested. The perpendicular path will drain energy faster. Even with incessant inclines to make enthusiasm can immediately drop if you have no strong will.

However, all the exhaustion will be worth it at the top. There are two peaks of Mount Sumbing that can be enjoyed when climbing from Butuh Hamlet: Sejati Peak and Selo Konten Peak. The distance between the two peaks is actually very close.

The height of both peaks is also not much different and offers magnificent scenery like the Mount Sumbing crater which is the Sabana area named Segoro Banjaran. Also, the panorama of mountains in Jawa Tengah includes Mount Merapi, Merbabu, Andong, Telomoyo, to Lawu.

Moreover, you can see the clouds from Mount Sumbing or the amazing view of sunrise.
