The Charm Of Umbul Siblarak Klaten: Nautical Tourism As In Ubud Bali

Klaten Regency constantly offers exciting and new tourist attractions. The new tourist attraction in Klaten is not far from natural springs tourism, a.k.a. umbul.

It is Umbul Siblarak, a water tourism spot located in Sidowayah Village, Polanharjo District, Klaten. Its location is close to Umbul Ponggok, only about a 10-minute drive. Although it uses the word umbul a.k.a natural springs, Umbul Siblarak is different from the other springs in Klaten. Umbul Siblarak is a tourist attraction with an artificial swimming pool built in the middle of a rice field. There are two swimming pools at Umbul Siblarak. There is a children's pool with a depth of 50 cm and an adult pool with a depth of 150 cm.

The President Director of BUMDes Sinergi, Imron, said the construction of the Umbul Siblarak utilizes the less productive rice fields in Sidowayah Village.

"We take the water from Umbul Manten. We drain Umbul Manten water using pipes into the pools at Siblarak Tourism," said Imron some time ago.

Umbul Manten is a spring in Sidowayah Village which is about 200 meters from Umbul Siblarak. You could say that swimming in Umbul Siblarak is almost like swimming in Umbul Manten.

Imron said that the idea of developing Umbul Siblarak came from the wishes of the village chief and some community leaders. They want to take advantage of the Village Fund disbursement distributed by the government for each village in 2017. Of the funds received, around 600 million IDR is used for the construction of Umbul Siblarak. Imron did not deny that the development of Siblarak Tourism was inspired by the success of Umbul Ponggok.

"Hapsoro, the previous village chief, asked the community to be creative so that at least it can be the same as Ponggok," he said.

It makes Imron create BUMDes Synergy Sidowayah. After BUMDes was formed, he carried out mapping and analysis, which areas in Sidowayah Village were suitable for tourism development, education, and others. At the peak of the event, BUMDes and the village are obliged to build Siblarak Tourism.

Even though Umbul Ponggok is not as popular as Umbul Ponggok, tourism in Siblarak started becoming popular in Klaten and the surrounding area. Opened in June 2019, Umbul Siblarak is now one of the mainstay tourist destinations in the Polanharjo District.

Especially since the beauty and charm of Umbul Siblarak are widely shared on social media. As a result, more and more tourists are coming, although most of them are still dominated by residents of Jawa Tengah.

Almost every day, Umbul Siblarak is never empty of visitors. Starting from children, students, to adults. "On weekdays, there are more kindergarten and elementary students who do outbound activities," Imron said.

The landscapes that Umbul Siblarak has to offer are also well-liked by visitors. Since it is built in the middle of a rice field, it makes the sensation of traveling in Umbul Siblarak like in Ubud, Bali. The view of the verdant rice fields and the pool that is so fresh and spoils our eyes. While in the west, towering Mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu. Traveling to Umbul Siblarak makes your mind and body refreshed.

Siblarak Tourism is open every Monday-Saturday from 08.00 AM to 5 PM, while on Sunday it is open from 07.30 AM to 5 PM. Not only playing in the water, but visitors can also try out many other available game facilities. For example, Funtubing, ATB Motorbike Rental, and Trail for 15 minutes, to try out the Flying Byur ride.

"Flying byur is different from flying fox. If flying fox lands on the ground, flying byur lands on water," said Imron.

Umbul Siblarak Tourism also provides floaties tire rental at an affordable rate. For the price of admission, Umbul Siblarak Tourism is also very cheap, only 5,000 IDR per person.
