Pemalang Regency on the north coast of Jawa Tengah has a variety of culinary. Grombyang Rice and Lontong Dekem are popular dishes from this regency.

Grombyang Rice is similar to soto tauco (fermented bean paste or rawon (Diced Beef in Black Sauce Soup) with different spices. From the presentation, Grombyang Rice is usually served in a small white bowl. Then the rice is usually served with sliced ​​buffalo meat, gravy, and leek. Usually, this dish is eaten with buffalo satay. The buffalo satay is served by requests such as meat, offal, and others. This buffalo satay is also complemented with appetizing coconut flakes. Moreover, the satay sauce combined with oil is delicious enough to be eaten either with Grombyang Rice or as a separate menu. Even with this satay sauce, Grombyang Rice becomes more delicious.

Not only Grombyang Rice but there is also another culinary worth trying, namely Lontong Dekem. In terms of culinary appearance, this is almost similar to Nasi Grombyang. It's just that if Grombyang is served with rice, this dish uses rice cake as the carbon condiment. In addition to meat ingredients, Lontong Dekem is served using chicken. Unlike Grombyang Rice, which is available in the morning, most Lontong Dekem sellers can be found starting in the afternoon.

Same to Grombyang Rice, Lontong Dekem is also usually eaten with satay or various other side dishes. Not only served with a side dish but this culinary dish is also complemented by a crunch made from claws or chicken skin that has been crispy fried and also crumbs of colorful noodle crackers. The presence of this crunch certainly adds to the richness of the texture of Lontong Dekem.
