CORO HERBAL DRINK

Coro herbal drink (Wedang Jamu Coro) is a typical drink of the Demak district. This traditional have existed since the era of the Bintoro Sultanate. As a dish at a gathering or special event at the Demak Bintoro palace. And the existence of this traditional drink is still maintained and preserved by the community.

Wedang Jamu Coro is made from flour combined with spices such as ginger, cinnamon, lemongrass, coconut milk, and brown sugar. So it tastes a little spicy, sweet and refreshing.

This herbal drink is usually sold in the villages in the morning. Uniquely, jamu coro is peddled around in a typical container in the form of a jar or kendi. To take it from the jar, use a small piece of bamboo with a wooden handle.

One of the peddlers of wedang coro, Ms. Mila, said that it should be stored in a jar and covered with cloth and plastic to maintain the warmth of the herbs and the characteristics. "It is placed in a jar and closed tightly to keep it warm because this is a science inherited from our ancestors. Even in the current era, some are placed in a pot," he said.
