Come On! Tour To Pati, There Is A Meron Sukolilo Tradition 2023
The people of Sukolilo Village, Pati Regency, have a tradition of commemorating the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, known as the Meron tradition. Quoted from warisankultur.kemdikbud.go.id, this tradition takes place every 13th Rabiul Awal. Meron was first performed by several courtiers from the Mataram Sultanate in Pati in the 17th century. In 2016, Meron was designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology.
The Meron celebration uses mountains of food made from sticky rice, such as concur, once, and ampyang arranged in three tiers. The Meron procession begins after the Dhuhur time. After being prayed for, the mountains were paraded to the Baitul Yaqin mosque in Sukolilo Village, and then distributed to neighboring village officials after the celebration was over.
In its development, the Meron tradition has become an interesting cultural tourist attraction to visit. This year, the Meron Sukolilo Tradition will be held on 26-29 September 2023 with the theme "Nyawiji Njagi Tradisi". Come on, check out the series of events below!
