Kanoman Waterfall: Beautiful Waterfall With Terraces In Wonotunggal Batang L

Batang Regency is known to has many natural tourist attractions such as waterfalls or locals said curug. Several waterfalls in Batang are accessible, one of them is Curug Kanoman where located in Gringingsari Village, Wonotunggal District.

This waterfall, which is about 21 kilometers from downtown, is no less beautiful and instagramable than other waterfalls. Moreover, Its terraced waterfall allows us to climb the steps. For sure, these steps can be great photo spots for social media feeds. 

The road access is also fairly smooth, and it only takes about 35 minutes from the Batang square. The typical scenery of Batang southern area is even more pleasing since there are expanses of rice fields, community gardens, as well as green trees along the way to Curug Kanoman. 

Arriving at the parking area, visitors do not need to waste extra energy. It's only about a 5-10 minutes walk and visitors can see the charm of the beautiful waterfall which has been opened since 2018.

The charm of this seven meter high waterfall is so magnificent that some people even held a pre-wedding at Curug Kanoman. Not only the beautiful waterfall, but also the clear water attracts the visitors to swim under the waterfall. What is more interesting is that to enjoy the beauty of this waterfall, visitors do not need to spend a lot of money. By spending Rp 5,000 each person, waterfalls and several other facilities can be enjoyed. The gazebo facilities are available for visitors who want to relax. Not to forget, the manager also provides modern selfie spots there. 

The head of Gringingsari Wonotunggal Village, Sigit Pranoto explained that this waterfall was originally named Genting Nom-noman. It was named that way because youths used to herd buffalo in the surrounding area. 

"To make it easier to pronounce, we changed the name to Curug Kanoman so that it is easier to pronounce. Based on the ancient stories, there was a white monkey in that place, and indeed the river under the waterfall was used as a place to bathe buffalo," said Sigit when interviewed, Tuesday (March 17th, 2020). 

Sigit said that currently Curug Kanoman is still managed by the village youth community. In the future, his party plans to provide tubing, rock climbing and geological education rides for local students.

"Since the waterfall location is relatively easy, safe, and not steep, it is safe for children to play," he added. 

Although there are already plans ahead, his party admits that they still need a bigger plan. He hopes that the government and related agencies can help develop natural attraction which has been managed by using village funds. 

Meanwhile, one of the visitors, Nur Kholilah, said she was satisfied with enjoying the view around Curug Kanoman. Although the distance is quite far from his house in Pekalongan Regency, she has no regrets. Because Curug Kanoman is worthy of her social media needs. At the same time to unwind from the routine work as well. 

"I'm very satisfied, I don't regret coming here. It's a long way because I'm from Pekalongan Regency. But the road is smooth, and the distance is so close from the parking area. The waterfall is beautiful, so it's good for me to be able to hunt for content to post on my social media, " she said. (Nov)
