"Nyemplung Seneng" In Pluneng Water Spring Klaten

Klaten has many tourist attractions that make anyone feel at home. Starting from temples, tourism villages, hilly areas, to the superior attraction, a water spring.

It is easy to find a "umbul" (water spring) in Klaten. No wonder, if the district flanked by Solo and Yogyakarta is dubbed as the City of A Thousand Springs. One of them is Umbul Pluneng. While in Umbul Tirto Mulyono, there are three pools with different areas and depths. The main pool in Umbul Tirto Mulyono measures 50x10.5 meters with a depth of 2 meters. There is also a children's pool with a depth of 75 cm and a size of 6x8.5 meters.

Just like other umbul tours in Klaten Regency, Umbul Pluneng also offers the freshness of water from natural springs. The water is very clear and continues to flow. The quality of the water is unquestionable. Water in Umbul Pluneng has a pH level of 7 and TDS 100 so it belongs to the category of healthy water even worth drinking without the need to be boiled.

Therefore, to maintain the clarity and purity of water, the manager of Umbul Pluneng, namely Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDesa) Tirta Sejahtera Pluneng prohibits visitors from spitting in the pool area. The manager provides a kind of sewer around the pool as a place to spit with running water.

One famous cultural attraction and continues to be held every year is Syukuran Banyu (Water Thanksgiving). This tradition is held every last week in the month of Muharram aka Suro.

Another attraction held around Umbul Pluneng is the traditional art of ''ciblon'' which aims to preserve traditional music with water media. In this art, a group of women would go into the pool. They will pat the water so that it produces a certain sound or rhythm. It is usually a traditional song.
