The Second To None Beauty Of Semawur Waterfall, Kendal

Kendal Regency offers several natural tourists hidden gems. Curug Semawur is one of them, and it is not well recognized outside of Kendal.

Not only is the waterfall wonderful, but the path to the place is also stunning. It's similar to a journey to Dieng, but with smaller hills and ravines in the background. This waterfall is a tiered waterfall with two tiers. The top level may reach a height of around 14 meters, while the second level has a lower height of about 5 meters. When compared to other waterfalls in the surrounding, this waterfall's water discharge is relatively high, especially in summer.

Curug Semawur entrance ticket

Because the Semawur waterfall is considered unspoiled, you must walk through a makeshift path from the parking area to the waterfall. So don't be shocked if you have to do some walking to reach to the waterfall. There is no admission fee for guests; however, you will be charged IDR 2,000 for one motorcycle in the parking lot.

Because there is no admission fee, visitors must take extra care in areas around the waterfall.

When visiting Curug Semawur, the natural green atmosphere, cool air, babbling water, and the sound of forest creatures create a relaxing ambiance.

Curug Semawur Location

Semawur waterfall is located in Kejiwan Village, Blumah, Platungan, Kendal, and can only be accessed by motorized vehicle due to the path is difficult to navigate by car. You must also use precaution when driving through the streets since the contours of the cliffs are rather steep.

It takes at least 2 to 3 hours to drive from the city of Semarang. Meanwhile, tourists must walk for about 30 minutes from the parking lot to the site.

Because Curug Semawur is still fairly unexplored to visitors, access to its site is dominated by stony roads and unkempt terrain. Visitors are treated to views of the residents' coffee gardens and occasionally encounter tiny rivers on their way from the parking area.

You might claim that this waterfall is still pristine, with clear water that tastes well when consumed. Likewise, the still-beautiful trees and green plants.

When the rainy season starts, visitors must take caution since the track will become extremely slick. It is also a good idea to bring sandals/mountain shoes, supplies, first aid kits, and clothing before visiting Curug Semawur.

If you visit during the rainy season, you should not bathe or play in the water near the waterfall because floods can occur unexpectedly. Not to mention the stuff carried by the river, which might be dangerous.

Although this waterfall takes extra effort and a lengthy trek, all of your efforts will be repaid when you reach to the waterfall's area. Visitors may enjoy themselves by playing in the water or simply relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of the city. (Nico/Contributor)
