Instant Ongklok Noodles Mas Desta, Javanese Pasta In Instant Packaging

Talking about Indonesian culinary delights is endless. In Jawa Tengah, precisely in Wonosobo Regency, there are many specialties. One of them is ongklok noodles.

Ongklok noodles, an original culinary from Wonosobo, usually contain vegetables, cabbage, chopped chives, and yellow noodles. Then, noodles are served with a splash of soup. The soup of ongklok noodle is special with its thick texture since it is made from a solution of tapioca flour, shrimp, chicken stock, and palm sugar.

It is Desta Hatmoko Adi, a local of Mudal sub-district, Mojotengah District, Wonosobo Regency, who has innovated this product since mid-2015, and began launching his product in early 2016 with the brand “Mie Ongklok Mas Desta”.

These instant ongklok noodles also use ingredients such as ongklok noodles in common. In the instant ongklok noodle packaging, there are yellow noodles, chives, tofu, and other spices that have been processed and packaged so that they can last up to one year.

Starting from simple plastic packaging, now Mie Ongklok Mas Desta is available in aluminum foil packaging, cups for travelers, to premium packs. You can try various flavors such as original, green chilies, black pepper, super spicy, sweet-spicy, and golden cheezy.

As Desta said, this product already has a license from PIRT, LPOM, and Halal MUI. Its tagline product is no joke, namely The World's First Instant Ongklok Noodle Mas Desta, Local Culinary Goes International. "In Indonesia, the sale of ongklok noodles has reached Papua. For abroad, we have sent them to Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, and Canada," said Desta.

Met on Monday (22/03), Desta admitted that the Covid-19 pandemic had greatly reduced his turnover, especially for offline sales. However, his business was still able to survive because the online sales of instant ongklok noodles had increased by three times.

"During this pandemic, many MSMEs went out of business, gratefully, we can still survive since we also sell it online in the marketplace and promote through social media such as Instagram and YouTube so that the market reach becomes wider," he stressed.
